Decorating the easy way. Save time and money with Chip-It
Have you heard of Chip-It from Sherwin Williams? It’s my favorite new obsession.
I recently joined the online pin board site, Pinterest. There I can browse through thousands of home decorating images and pin my favorites that I hope to use in my own home and at work when I am decorating our community model homes.
Once I choose a pin for inspiration, I head to my favorite home goods stores and flea markets to look for pieces similar that will fit the look I am going for. After I have purchased and re-purposed my décor pieces, I am ready to start the transformation.
Matching the paint colors
The next step is selecting paint colors to serve as my backdrop as I create my room designs. While this is the least expensive part of the process, it can sometimes be the toughest. I have invested lots of money in those small quart-size containers of paint trying to find the perfect match to go with my new look. What I ended up with are a bunch of mis-matched stripes and more trips to the paint store.
I have hauled in shoes, blankets, rugs…you name it, trying to get the paint color I envisioned.
Well waste and haul no more, Chip-It does it all for me, for free. When you visit the website, you can watch a short video that explains how it works. Simply put, you upload an image you want to match and it instantly gives you the paint colors you are looking for. How easy is that?
I love Pottery Barn for decorating inspiration. Here is a sample from Chip-It. All I did was find the room I liked and clicked the “chip-it” icon in my toolbar (the Sherwin Williams website shows you how to do it), instantly I knew precisely the color palette to shop for. You can save your selections and refer back to them anytime.
