Oatmeal Crispies

Oatmeal Crispies is one of my families favorite secret recipes, passed down to me by my late grandmother, Adeline Davis. My hopes are that this recipe will bring you as much joy and as many special memories as it has brought to my family and I.

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup Crisco
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 ½ cups of flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 3 cups oatmeal
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)

Cream Crisco and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla, then mix. Next add sifted dry ingredients, then mix. Last add oatmeal and chopped nuts (optional), then mix. Finish by rolling mixture into small balls and placing on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
