Sellers benefit from the housing market rebound.
Patience pays off. If you were one of the homeowners waiting for the perfect time to sell your home, now is the time to upgrade to your dream home. According to the National Association of Realtors, single-family home prices rose 7.2 percent in 2013, compared to 2012. This increase represents the highest price increase since August 2008. In fact, homes for sale in many markets are going well over asking price, creating bidding wars for buyers.
Existing home prices for condos and townhomes increased more than 10 percent in many areas. Since 2011, existing-home sales have risen nearly 20 percent and sales for 2013 were 9.1 percent higher than the previous year. Existing-home sales for all of 2013 were the highest since 2006.
According to Realtor.com, buyers are purchasing properties faster than in previous years. This is good for home sellers, because it creates urgency amongst home buyers and sellers are able to demand a higher price. As consumer confidence increases, more home buyers are entering the housing market. Homeowners listing their homes for sale are benefiting from current housing conditions. With limited home inventory, sellers are finding that they have more leverage in negotiating the prices of their homes.
With home prices on the rise, now is the time to list your property for sale. For those considering holding out in hopes of a greater price, experts warn against the hold out. With our ever changing housing market, economy, and mortgage rates, really it is a game of chance.
Congrats, your patience has paid off. Now is the time to sell your home for top dollar and purchase your new dream home.
