Fall is in the Air and it’s time to get DECORATING!

There is nothing that makes your house feel more like a home than some fresh flowers.  With Halloween right around the corner and Thanksgiving shortly there after, I have the perfect October project for you.  Who doesn’t love a beautifully colored Mum in the fall?  I know I do.  There is something about them that puts a big smile on my face.  Maybe it is because of the color, or the fact that they scream ‘Fall is here’, or that it means cool weather is on it’s way and football season has started! I think it is all of those things.

I have the cutest project for you.  It’s called The Mumkin.

Lowe’s has the prettiest Mums right now.  You need one mum and one nice size pumpkin.  First, cut out a hole at the top of the pumpkin that is just large enough for your mum to fit in.  Make sure you keep the Mum in the container it came in.  Next, remove all the seeds and string inside the pumpkin and clean it out really well.  Save your pumpkin seeds to roast later.  They are delicious.  Place your mum in the pumpkin and now you have your Mumkin.

Make sure when you are watering your Mums that you remove them from the pumpkin first.  Let the plant dry and then place it back in the pumpkin.  This will help keep your pumpkin from rotting.

Here is what I chose to do with my Mumkins.

It sure helps to make a happy workplace and we have received lots of compliments as guests have visited our office.

Now, if you are really feeling creative and want to have something special for Halloween and then spice it up and keep it for Thanksgiving, you can create one of these:

All you need is two Hay Bales and a few mums and decor and you can have a gorgeous fall arrangement in your front yard.
