If you are looking for an inexpensive way to dress up your home's exterior, stone accents are a great choice.
There are many different color selections available and you are sure to find the perfect one to coordinate with your home's exterior style. The stones are rectangular in shape and can be applied with mortar. I have used liquid nails as small pieces have come loose.
After having my stone on my home for several years, I noticed that they were starting look faded. I did some online research and found that I could bring them back to life and protect them in the future for less than $20.00. I used a waterproofing product called SealKrete, which I bought at my local home improvement store. It was less than $15 for a gallon, which was way more than I needed to cover the stone I have on the front of my home. I really could have used a quart but couldn't find a smaller quantity than the gallon jug.
Before you start your project, be sure to clean the stone from and mildew or dirt and let it dry. Next, pour some of the waterproofing product in a small bowl and brush directly onto the stone. This brand that I chose goes on milky white so you can se exactly where you have applied it. Really work that brush in the stone and in between the crevices. I waited a couple hours (as the directions stated) and then added my second coat. That's all it took. As you can see from the before and after pictures, they look as good as new.
