I recently moved out on my own and in doing so I have learned several things. In my journey of being a new homeowner I have found 10 items that I feel every homeowner needs. I have found all 10 these items to be helpful and useful and I hope the 10 featured item will be just as helpful and useful to you.
- Hercules Hooks:
Hercules hooks are one of my favorite items on this list. You can buy them anywhere from your local Wal-Mart to online store like Amazon. These handy little hooks make hanging pictures, mirrors, artwork etc. on the wall a breeze. You don’t even need a hammer. If you have yet to discover these fabulous little miracle hooks be sure to check them out the next time you’re at the store.
- Magic Erasers:
Magic erasers are great for cleaning just about everything from bathrooms to kitchens and everything in between. You’re going to want to make sure you pick up some magic erasers on your next shopping trip.
- Scotch-Brite Dishwand:
This handy little dishwand is great for scrubbing dishes or cleaning them lightly before you throw them in the dishwasher. The soap is in the handle and at the end there is a scrub sponge. The Scotch-Brite Dishwand makes cleaning dishes a snap.
- A Cord Phone:
If you have a land line you should consider purchasing a cord phone. If your power ever goes out for several days, which can sometime because you to lose cell phone service as well, you’re going to wish you had a cord phone. Typically a cordless phone cannot make calls when the power goes out and if you just went through a natural disaster or power outages, your family or friends who live out of the area are going to be waiting on your call to make sure you are okay. A cord phone typically costs less than a cordless phone, so next time you’re in the store price a cord phone and consider making the purchase.
- Corelle Dish Plates:
This item is tied for my favorite item on this list with my number one pick being the Hercules Hooks. Correlle dish plates are excellent, they are easy to clean, and I just love how lightweight and durable they are. If you’re in the market for new everyday dishes consider giving a set of Corelle dishes a try.
- A Manual Can Opener:
This item comes in handy if you live in areas with hurricanes, heavy snow, or just for any type of emergency situation that can cause major power outages. Living in Florida, a manual can opener is an essential for hurricane season. If a hurricane strikes and the power goes out for days you’re going to wish you had one. Next time you’re at the store, consider picking up a manual can opener.
- Glass Storage Bowls:
Glass storage bowls are great. They are easy to clean and perfect for heating things in the microwave. I love my glass storage bowls because once I am done using them I just give it a quick rinse and throw it in the dishwasher. This makes cleanup a breeze. Plus, they don’t stain or turn colors like plastic storage bowls sometimes can.
Vinegar is the perfect, inexpensive cleaning agent. You can use vinegar to clean just about everything without all of those toxic chemicals. For great cleaning techniques using vinegar, click HERE.
- Dryer Sheets:
Dryer sheets not only soften your clothes, they are excellent for cleaning around the house as well. I am always on the lookout for items that can do double duty. For more information on how to clean with your dryer sheets, click HERE.
